About The Alberta Community Council on HIV (ACCH)

ACCH Mission

Recognizing that social change is a necessary response to HIV, the Alberta Community Council on HIV supports community-based responses and provides provincial leadership through collective action and a unified voice.

ACCH Vision

All individuals and communities in Alberta will have the ability, capacity and desire to eliminate the harm caused by HIV.

We want to tell everyone that:


• there is a distinction between HIV and AIDS
• all Albertans are affected by HIV in one way or another
• HIV is treatable
• HIV is preventable
• Albertans have the capacity and ability as well as a role and responsibility in reducing the harm caused by HIV
• Albertans need to respond to persons living with HIV in a compassionate manner
• education, prevention, care, and treatment resources are available in all of our communities.
